Systems exposed to cigarettes. e-cigarette, or vaping, requires significantly more time, cleaning, and materials to service safely. Because of this, we apply a Nicotine/Tar Contamination Fee when a device shows signs of residue buildup.

Why nicotine & tar contamination matters

Nicotine & tar don’t just leave a smell — they create a sticky, tar‑like film that coats external & internal components. This residue causes:

• Fans to build up a thick layer of sticky paste, gum up, or seize-up completely

• Heatsinks and vents to clog

• Dust and derbies to turn into a thick, sticky paste that doesn't come off with a simple air dusting. It requites physical removal with wipes & scrubbing

• Adhesive to become harder to remove

• Our tools and gloves to stick to components

• Extra cleaning time before repairs can even begin

Even simple repairs can take 2–3X longer on a nicotine/tar exposed system. Vaping doesn't always leave a smell, but the sticky tar does build up.

What the fee covers

The Nicotine/Tar Contamination Fee helps cover:

• Additional cleaning time

• Extra isopropyl alcohol, wipes, and materials

• Excess tool wear

• Extended labor time for disassembly and reassembly

• Workspace sanitation after the repair

This ensures we can continue offering high‑quality service while keeping our pricing fair for all customers.

How the fee is determined

We use a tiered system based on severity:

• Light Contamination: $40

• Moderate Contamination: $60

• Heavy Contamination: $80

• Severe Contamination: $100

You’ll always be informed if the fee applies before we begin any work.
